How to Win at Casinos
Sunday, September 20th, 2009What kind of gambler are you? Are you always in a hurry to play? Do you set a limit to your losses? Are you disciplined enough to walk away when you need to? Do you bet on anything? Do you have a definite winning plan? Are you the casino annuity for already a long time?
I have been in a casino many times and I have met many kinds of personalities. Let me share to you one of the most unforgettable person I ever met. She was a dowager in her senior years. The first time I saw her was one early evening when she was playing Blackjack with some others. She was a big bettor. I found it rare for an old woman to play Blackjack so I was curious. I thought she was new to the casino but it turned out she was a casino regular for a very long time already, but she went abroad for two years and now she’s back on vacation. She had so much gambling money with her.
I sat beside her, and because she seemed friendly, so we got along well. She bragged to me, she won. She said she was losing slowly, but when it was already dawn, she came into sudden winning sequences. She was very excited relating to me how she won bet after bet, almost recouping all her losses in just a burst of a few minutes the money she lose in many hours. I wanted to know more about her so I commented that she must have won big already in the many years of her gambling. She answered me unhappily, saying her losses could already buy a house and lot – plenty of them.
Then I noticed her kind of play – she was very aggressive, betting big on every hand, without a definite focus, without a winning plan. She is one of those gamblers who have played 30 years or more but has not learned any lesson. She was fumbling, a member of the casino majority who never have any idea how to win.
She was in a hurry to play, really in a hurry. She did not want to be vacant even for a second, or she would feel bored. When the cards at Blackjack were shuffled, she would go to the slot machines. She would just estimate the time it takes to shuffle the cards, and if she thinks it was time to deal the cards, she would run from the slot machine to the Blackjack table. She was like a frantic passenger that is about to be left behind by her flight.
